Directors & Officers

Dr. James Orbinski, Chair, is a Research Scientist at St. Michael's Hospital, and Associate Professor of both Political Science and Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also Board Chair for War Child Canada, a founding member of both the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Global Alliance for Tuberculosis Drug Development (GTAB) and, finally, an advisory Board member of Engineers Without Borders. Dr. Orbinski is based in Toronto.

Michael Young, President, is the President of Quadrant Capital Partners, a private equity firm with offices in Dallas, TX and Toronto. He is chairman of the American Friends of the Art Gallery of Ontario, chairman of the capital campaign for Interval House, and serves as a Trustee of IPC U.S. REIT (TSE) and Calloway Real Estate Investment Trust (TSE). He is a Director of Brookfield Homes (NYSE).  Michael is based in Dallas, TX.

Pamela Hughes, Secretary, is a Senior Partner in the securities law group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and also sits on the Board of BEA Systems Canada and International Medical Regulatory Research Consortium.  Pamela is based in Toronto.

Ric Clark is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Properties Corporation. He is based in New York City.

Carol Devine is the former Program Director for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Canada. Carol has worked with MSF in Zaire, South Sudan, served on the Board of MSF Australia, and is based in Toronto.

Dr. Mario Garcia is a Public Health Services Manager in the State Department of Public Health in Connecticut. He was Country Manager (Belize, Nicaragua, Brasil) and Medical Coordinator (Bosnia) with MSF from 1989 to 1995. Dr. Garcia holds public health degrees from Yale University (USA) and University of London (England), and received his MD from Universidad Javeriana (Colombia).  Dr. Garcia is based in New Haven, CT.

Marguerite Steed Hoffman lives in Dallas, Texas with her three children.  For the last 15 years, she has spent a majority of her time as a civic volunteer serving sequentially as Chair of the Board for the following organizations:  Planned Parenthood of North Texas, ChildCareGroup, and the Dallas Museum of Art.  She has also served as co-chair of the DMA's Centennial Campaign, which successfully raised over $180 million for the organization in the last six years.  Marguerite is the owner and Chairman of Custom Food Group, a regional full-line vending company.

Robert M. Raich is the President and a founding member of Spears Abacus Advisors LLC, responsible for equity investments and asset allocation decisions for client portfolios and the Firm’s mutual fund, The BeeHive Fund. In 2001, Rob began serving as President and Chief Investment Officer for Abacus and Associates, where he manages the Family’s portfolio of equity, fixed income, illiquid and private investments, and has oversight of over 100 trusts, a private family trust company, foundation and a staff of 20 professionals. Rob serves on the Board of One Story, a non-profit literary magazine, which promotes up-and-coming short story authors. A Certified Public Accountant, Rob graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a degree in accountancy (with honors), and holds an MBA in Finance from the Columbia Business School. Rob is based in New York City.

Thomas W. Stephenson, Jr., is the founder, President and CEO of Rave Motion Pictures, which builds and operates all-stadium, all-digital multiplexes throughout the United States. Prior to founding Rave, he was President and CEO of Hollywood Theaters. Before starting his MBA program, Tom served as Finance Director and Campaign Director for several US Senators. He began his investment career with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in 1978, and later became a partner in Criswell Development Company and the President of Inwood Capital. In 1987, he formed his own acquisition and advisory group, and has advised a number of corporations, including Parker Medical Associates, ReproGenesis, LLP and Wound Care Partners, LLC.

Monica Winsor is a Founding Partner of Inspired Philanthropy Group (IPG), providing innovative fundraising, cause-related marketing and strategic advice to nonprofits, foundations, philanthropists and companies working together to make a sustainable and positive impact on the planet. Prior to IPG, she helped launch the "6 Villages: 1 Global Fight Against AIDS" campaign for FXB International, raising awareness and funding for sustainable economic development programs in Uganda and Rwanda. Monica has spent the past twenty years helping social beneficiary organizations with a focus on Africa, global health, human rights and women's rights. She is a trustee of The William H. Donner Foundation and Donner Canadian Foundations, Synergos, Barefoot Workshops, and Culture Project. Monica is a graduate of Brown University, and lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters.
